We are back with another news and rumor roundup around the world of Disney parks. We recently returned from a great week at Walt Disney World and a lot happened while we were away! Let’s get right into it…
The registration period for AP Previews of Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios went live yesterday morning and quickly filled up within a couple hours. We were able to snag a 4 hour time slot and can’t wait! It’s pretty exciting that this new land is finally about to open at Walt Disney World!
Disney announced today, a bunch of new incentives for AP holders to visit Epcot this summer. The Diet Epcot crowds have been nonexistent lately and Disney is doing whatever they can to try and get folks into the park. Perks include reserved concert seating, hidden menu items, a few minor dining discounts and free dessert.
Some “enhancements” are coming to this year’s Boo to You Parade at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. New floats representing Tomorrowland will feature the Incredibles and Buzz Lightyear. We would have gone with Monsters Inc. for Halloween ourselves, but whatever I guess. The Bride from Haunted Mansion will also be joining the parade.
In other holiday party news, overlays are coming to a few attractions at this year’s Christmas Party. Tomorrowland Speedway, Space Mountain, Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor and Mad Tea Party will all be getting in on the fun. We are surprisingly most excited by the Speedway as the decorations have the potential to make the ride a heck of a lot better.
The seemingly never ending unplanned closure of Primeval World continues over at Animal Kingdom. It’s been well over a month at this point and will remain closed through at least August 3rd. The re-opening date has already been pushed back several times so we’ll see. I’m really curious as to what could be going on with the fairly simple ride.
In some good news for those who like to book last minute trips, several Disney resorts have been popping up in Priceline Express Deals lately. We booked All Star Music for $68 a night when we visit for our AP preview and Coronado Springs has recently been showing up for as low as $120 a night. Check out Disney Tourist Blog’s post here for in depth instructions on how to find Express Deals for Disney resorts via Priceline.
Finally, some good news for those involved in the fight against resort fees. A recent lawsuit against Marriott regarding the controversial fees has garnered quite a bit of public attention. We feel confident these resort fees will eventually become illegal and we can’t wait for that day. For more on the subject, check out this great post from Disney Tourist Blog here!
That will do it for this weeks news and rumors roundup. We will be back soon with tons of content from our recent trip.
Bye for now!
