A Tribute to Country Bear Jamboree

Today we are going to take a look at one of the very best attractions in all of Walt Disney World. I am talking of course, of the national treasure that is Country Bear Jamboree.

The attraction was originally conceived to be part of a California ski resort which Disney was attempting to build in the mid 60’s. While the ski resort didn’t work out, the Country Bears found life as an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom.

The attraction rarely has any kind of a line and you can almost certainly get into the next showing (every 20 minutes or so) even on a busy day.

While the attraction is often overlooked today, it was received so much positive feedback upon opening that a copy was ordered for Disneyland the next year. Unfortunately the DL version closed to make way for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Buff, Max and Melvin can still be found inside the pooh ride), an attraction that also killed of Mr Toad’s Wild Ride at MK. So, booooo to that!

Prior to a 2012 refurbishment, the show was about 4-5 minutes longer, featuring longer versions of the current songs, as well as 2 additional songs.

The attraction also used to feature a Christmas overlay. I was never lucky enough to see it but I’ve heard nothing but great things about it.

This attraction is WDW at its best if you ask me. The experience is so unique, the songs are classic and the humor timeless. Give me this over a roller coaster any day of the week.

Big Al is has probably gained the most fame (he’s on most Country Bear merch), and rightfully so. He’s the best part of the show!

My 10 year old niece absolutely loves the attraction, proof that this type of show still appeals to the kids of today!

We never take a WDW trip without visiting the Jamboree at least once. The hoe down held outside in front of the attraction is always great fun as well! Do yourself a favor and don’t miss out on this all time classic during your next trip!
